Urs learned his craft in Switzerland where he started a woodworking apprenticeship in 1976 and received certification in 1979. He worked in Switzerland for a period of time before embarking on a journey that would take him to many parts of the world developing his skills as a craftsman.

His travels eventually brought him to Canada where he fell in love with the expansive horizons and where he met his wife Elizabeth. In 1987 he and Elizabeth opened Tyee Lake Woodcraft and Urs started to bring his creativity into the homes of the Cariboo-Chilcotin. His custom kitchens, grand doors and stained glass windows became a true sign of his artistic ability and impeccable quality.

Residing in the beautiful Skelton Valley, Urs and Elizabeth crafted their own home and have recently expanded his shop where Urs has broadened his business to include European inspired tilt and turn windows and lift and slide doors.

Urs and his co-worker, also a European trained woodworker are still making solid wood kitchen cabinets, vanities, doors and windows and Urs still likes to do specialty work for his customers which can include stained glass doors and windows, ornamental carving, wrought iron accents and some custom furniture items.
